CSA

Great news! For the 2013 season, Confreda Greenhouses & Farms will bring back our popular Community Supported Agriculture Program, or CSA. CSAs are a wonderful way to allow members of our local community to share in the bounty of our farm while supporting local agriculture on a deeper level. When you support Confreda, you are supporting local agriculture, which in turn helps preserve open space and natural resources, creates jobs, and forges a relationship between growers and consumers.

As a CSA member, you will purchase a “share” of our harvest for the season. This entitles you to a weekly box of fresh produce right from the farm! Confreda is a GAP certified grower, so you will be getting the best possible quality.

When does it start?

The Confreda Farms CSA will run from July through October 2013.  You’ll enjoy an entire growing season of the freshest possible produce!

How do I get my produce?

As a CSA member, you will pick up a share of produce once a week, every week. Just come into the Farmers Market with valid ID and we will check you off the list and bring out your share!

Pickup schedule:  TBD

What veggies can I expect?

Many CSAs depend only on their “home farm,” which means some weeks you’ll get a big box of tomatoes. With Confreda’s access to local farms, we’ll be able to supplement our native produce with fresh local produce from time to time. This ensures a good variety every week for CSA members!

Our harvest calendar can also serve as a useful guide to what you can expect during the season. CSA members will also benefit from our wide variety of specialty crops: herbs, squash flowers, onions, potatoes, carrots, dandelion, Chard, cabbage, kale, escarole, and much more.

How much does it cost?

The Confreda CSA will have two options:

$400 for a single share (approximately 1-3 people)–one half-bushel box per week

$600 for a family share (approximately 3-6 people—one box equivalent to a bushel and a 1/9)

The share is paid up front for the season. The family share can be broken into two installments: $300 due at signup, $300 due by August 15, 2013.

What if I have to miss a week?

If you expect to miss a week, please notify us and have someone else pick it up (or we can donate it if you prefer). Remember, fresh produce does not keep—if we do not hear from you and you miss your pickup day, your share will be donated to the appropriate local charity.

What are the benefits of joining a CSA?

At Confreda Greenhouses & Farms, we’ve been known for our fresh produce for over 90 years. By joining our new CSA program, you can get first pick of our native produce all season! Take part in our CSA program and you’ll not only develop a healthier lifestyle by eating our fresh produce, you’ll be part of the agricultural community.
